What Is Intermittent Fasting? It's NOT Starving Yourself!
share on: facebook | twitter | google+ | redditWhen you hear the word "fasting" you might immediately think of an old skinny man sitting under a tree, not eating for months. That is NOT what we are talking about.
Intermittent Fasting (IF) is simply eating in a smaller window of time. Many of you may already know that I only eat from about 1-3pm until 9pm every day.
The MAIN advantage to this is that it makes it harder to overeat. You have less time to eat, so it's harder to eat too much. It's simply a useful tool when dieting or maintaining your weight.
For me though, there are also a ton of lifestyle benefits. I've been eating this way for over 5 years now and it has MASSIVELY simplified my life.
I only eat one large meal every day and then a smaller "snack" meal near the end of the day that is sort of like the size of a typical breakfast. This makes meal planning much easier, cooking easier. Shopping is easier. I get to eat a large satisfying meal of pretty much whatever I want and it keeps me satiated until night time.
The main critiques people come up with have to do with hunger and the everlasting "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" myth.
You are only hungry in the morning because that's when you usually eat. If you don't eat until 1pm, after a couple weeks you will start to only be hungry around then.
Secondly, there is no evidence that supports breakfast being somehow a magic recipe for success. It is merely a successful marketing campaign by cereal companies to get you to eat your wheaties! When you eat plays FAR less important to how MUCH you eat when it comes to dieting and fat loss.
That's it! Try it out if you aren't already. I understand many of you probably read my ebook on the topic so are already WELL informed, but my enjoyment of making videos has lead me here... I hope you enjoyed!
